There is a wonderful mythical law of nature, that the three things we crave most in life--happiness, freedom, and peace of mind--are always attained by giving them to someone else”
-Peyton Conway March “I have found that among its other benefits, giving liberates the soul of the giver” |

There is no greater reward than lending assistance to those who lack the resources. Through the generous donations of individuals and companies we are able to provide much-needed medical, social and educational support to Chicago’s needy families and communities. Our status as a Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHC) qualifies us to receive federal funding, and we are very grateful for this support, but unfortunately the needs of the communities and patients we serve surpass the limits of our federal stipends. We therefore reach out to our fellow Chicagoans to help us meet our goals and provide for our patients. Through financial and in-kind support we are able to offer a wide range of primary health care services. For instance, pregnant women abusing substances and those at high-risk for contracting HIV are cared for through our intensive substance abuse treatment program. New parents and overweight patients often access our health and nutrition education projects, which aim to prevent disease and illness through the promotion of healthy lifestyle choices. Our social workers, all masters prepared and state licensed, provide comprehensive care and support to all our patients through case management, individual counseling, group support and health education. These and other important services are available everyday, to anyone who walks through our doors, thanks to the charitable support we receive. Indeed, countless families, children and individuals have received vital medical and health services because of the generosity of our donors. Our plans for 2006 include a variety of new projects designed to address the ever-changing and complex needs of our patients and communities. Specifically, we are actively seeking support for a Teen Clinic project that will provide counseling and psychological testing for youth residing in communities that are at high risk for gang involvement, substance abuse and school failure. Also, we hope to purchase and install state-of-the-art x-ray equipment in our South side health center, the Komed Holman Health Center, and we are aggressively pursuing funding to meet this need. We are very grateful to those who have offered support over the years. The improvements in the lives of so many of our patients suggest that weNNHSC and our supportersare providing an essential, needed service. If you are considering making a donation, please know that your contribution will help make a difference in the lives of some of Chicago’s most disadvantaged individuals and families. Every little bit helps, and we would be honored to have your support. If you would like to contribute, please make a check or money order out to Near North Health Service Corporation and mail it to: Winfield Moody Health Center |
