The heart of Operation Frontline is the team of chefs, nutritionists, and financial planners who volunteer their time and talents to help low-income families develop the nutrition, cooking, food budgeting, and financial planning skills and knowledge they need. Operation Frontline's success is a direct result of our volunteers' passion and dedication.Roles for volunteers include:
Chef Instructors teach adults, kids, and teens how to cook healthy, low-cost foods using the lesson plans and recipes for each class provided in the Operation Frontline curricula. In Chicago, both culinary students and executive chefs have volunteered with us and they have gained valuable teaching experience with a nationally recognized program. Click here to find out more!
Nutrition Instructors also teach adults, kids, and teens how to make healthy choices using the lesson plans for provided in the Operation Frontline curricula. Dietetic interns from Loyola University, Hines VA and Benedictine University have found Operation Frontline to be an engaging and worthwhile experience during their community nutrition rotations. Financial Instructors teach adults how to manage money using the lesson plans for each class provided in Operation Frontline's Saving Smart, Spending Smart curricula. Financial planners from Washington Mutual, People’s Mortgage and Citibank have volunteered with Operation Frontline in Chicago. Click here to find out more!
Class Assistants/Shoppers help facilitate classes by assisting with onsite or offsite class preparation and implementation. Duties may include shopping for food, managing class materials, helping with set up and clean up, and working with participants as needed. Click here to find out more!
